The version of ePoynt CPE we’re using in this article is the EPNT-2, which features two medium gain omni-directional LTE antennas, an additional two high gain directional LTE antennas for scenarios such as rural areas where cellular base stations are quite far, and two omni-directional Wi-Fi antennas.

This means the EPNT-2 can be used in a single or dual 2X2 MIMO LTE/5G configuration, or a 4X4 MIMO LTE or 5G configuration. The omni-directional Wi-Fi antennas cover impressive range of up to 100 – 150-meter radius or more and they are dual-band, covering the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz Wi-Fi spectrum. All packed into a compact, weatherproof enclosure.

Apart from being an amazing LTE/5G and Wi-Fi CPE, the EPNT range is also a weatherproof enclosure to house your router or router board, right inside the unit. Making the EPNT range as complete, yet flexible and scalable a solution for fixed LTE/5G and Wi-Fi as you’ll find on the market. Featuring market leading antenna and RF technology from Poynting Antennas.

In this example, we’ve used the EPNT-2 with a Teltonika RUTX11 Dual Sim industrial LTE router, also available from Inteto Connect. The Teltonika range provides great flexibility as the routers can be powered via POE. This means only a single cable (ethernet) runs to the EPNT unit to provide power to the router, as well as give local connectivity to the router for management and configuration. The EPNT units features a watertight gland to run the ethernet cable to the router inside the EPNT-2.

Additional glands are made available for additions such as sim extension cables if external access is needed to the sim cards, eliminating the need to open the unit to access the router and change a sim card. The EPNT also features ports for connecting external auxiliary antennas.

For example, the Teltonika RUTX series features Bluetooth LE, or BLE. You’ll easily be able to connect the router’s BLE antenna to the router inside the EPNT and have the BLE antenna mounted externally to connect to devices such temperature or humidity sensors in the vicinity. The same can be done for GPS antennas, etc. An externally accessible ground screw is also available to make sure your router is earthed.

In closing, the Poynting ePoynt range and Teltonika Networks routers are a match made in heaven. They can both be used indoors or outdoors in the harshest of environments without any issues.
